We're looking at ways to help you get the best out of Vodafone's network, and have discovered that a number of customers might have their 3G phones set to use 2G or GSM services only. What this means is that your phone is set to avoid our latest network technology, and only uses the older voice network. You'll still be able to access the internet with your phone set like this, but with 3G enabled, browsing will be up to 20 times faster and voice calls will be clearer. You might previously have been advised to turn your phone down to 2G and then back up to 3G to update it on the network, and then perhaps you've forgotten to switch it back to 3G. Alternatively, you might have set it this way in the hope of enhancing battery life. In reality, battery savings are small , so we'd always recommend you enable 3G, especially if you have a smartphone, to ensure you get the best mobile experience across both voice and the internet. You may have also thought that having more signal bars of 2G is better than one bar of 3G, infact, this is not the case, you only need at least one bar to make a voice call and the quality of that call will be even clearer on 3G than 2G and you'll have a faster better mobile internet experience with just one bar of 3G compared to full bars of 2G.
