Mom Wants Policy Changed After Fight

Just the sounds of the boys yelling in the background, captured by a cell phone video camera made Roxane Cutchall's stomach turn. The Andrews mother says her son called her after varsity football practice, two weeks ago. Cutchall says he said another player attacked him. "When I asked my son why the police weren't called, he said the coach wanted to handle this on his own," she said. Cutchall says she called police who issued each boy a ticket to appear in court for fighting. "With my son being kicked in the head, I thought it would be wise to call the police if something happened I'd have a police report," Cutchall said. Andrews Chief of Police Bud Jones says it was a clear cut case of fighting. Superintendent David Mithcell tells NewsWest 9, it's school policy to call police after every fight on campus, but when fights happen during after school sports, it's up to the athletic department. "They should be able to call the police every time. It should not be up to the athletic director to decide what really happened. It should be up to the police, the judge, and the parents to figure it out," Cutchall said and she also plans to speak at Tuesday night's board meeting. Chief Jones told NewsWest 9, a School Resource Officer learned about the fight the day after it happened and says the boys would have been ticketed even if the mother didn't call. Cutchall hopes to use the cell phone video to get the case against her son thrown out.

Disaster hits home for local Haitians

Albuquerque's Haitian community is small and tight-knit, with strong connections to mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters back in Haiti. As aftershocks continue to roll through the earthquake-devastated capital, local Haitians feel the shock in a deeply personal way. "We are still unable to reach anyone there and I've been speaking to friends in Miami and just hearing all sorts of stories of young children being trapped, people dying, whole families." "We're just hoping for the best, and it's-- I mean that's all we can do. Hope for the best." While the Presidents concern for the uninsured is no doubt sincere, his plan amounts to a magnanimous gift to the health insurance industry, despite any implications to the contrary. For decades the insurance industry has been lobbying for mandated coverage for everyone. Imagine if the cell phone industry or the cable TV industry received such a gift from government? If government were to fine individuals simply for not buying a corporations product, it would be an incredible and completely unfair boon to that industry, at the expense of freedom and the free market. Yet this is what the current healthcare reform plans intend to do for the very powerful health insurance industry. The stipulation that pre-existing conditions would have to be covered seems a small price to pay for increasing their client pool to 100% of the American people. My review of the new Motorola Triumph from Virgin Mobile

I was kinda ill when I did this video so there's alot of congestive noise. Sorry about that. A few things I didn't mention in the video. People have said this has a blue tint to the screen. This is because it is on auto brightness by default. When adjusted it goes away. And I have never had the flicker problem on this device either. I think that was just a small bug. Anyways this is my crappy review. I just wanted to get something out there that may be helpful. This device works very well. There are some drawbacks but for no contract high end android, don't complain. It's definitely as good as the ones through contract. If you consider going to no contract and are looking at Virgin Mobile, I recommend the Optimus V first. It's a great starter android and very dependable. Plans start at $35 for 300 and unlimited text/data, $45 for 1200 mins, and $55 for unlimited which is very affordable. And the camera does support 720p but the best it'll do is for MMS or small videos. It is a phone after all. This will not replace a proper camcorder. UPDATE: For those who are curious about the HTC mod. It can be done several ways. This is how I did mine. For the dock bar and widgets look up LP Sense UI and download the APK and install. Jury fails to reach verdicts in UK bombings case

The trial of the three men accused of helping the July 7 bombers plan their attack has collapsed after the jury failed to reach verdicts. Waheed Ali, 25, Sadeer Saleem, 28, and Mohammed Shakil, 32, are the only people ever to be charged in connection with the bombings which killed 52 people. The three men, all from Beeston in Leeds, were accused of conducting a "hostile reconnaissance" mission for the bombers seven months before the attacks. They were joined by two of the bombers as they visited Kings Cross along with the London Aquarium and Natural History Museum, eight days before Christmas in December 2004. Objects belonging to each of the men were also found in the flat used as a bomb factory in the area of Hyde Park, Leeds. All three had also been on training camps in Pakistan with Mohammed Sidique Khan, the leader of the bombers, the last just months before the attacks. The jury of eight women and four men had deliberated for almost three weeks after a three month trial at Kingston Crown Court in southwest London. It is understood the prosecution will seek a retrial. The prosecution had argued that Sidique Khan had left Britain with Shehzad Tanweer planning to die as a martyr in Afghanistan after making a farewell video to his baby daughter. New Details From Choppers' Dip in Lake Tahoe NBC Bay Area

It's a 20-second, jaw-dropping clip of cell phone video that could ultimately cost two Navy helicopter pilots their flying privileges. It happened two weeks ago at Lake Tahoe and caught sightseers by surprise as they looked over the lake. "Oh my gosh," a gasping voice is heard saying on the video. Another person said, "they're totally practicing aren't they?" An official at NAS North Island in San Diego confirmed the authenticity of the video that shows two $33 million MH-60 Romeo helicopters flying over Lake Tahoe on Sept. 13. One of the helicopters appears to come dangerously close to the water before the pilot is able to regain altitude. US Navy officials from the Pentagon told NBC News this was not a training mission, but that the two helicopter crews were allegedly attempting to take photos of each other's helicopters hovering just above the waters of Lake Tahoe with the mountains as a majestic backdrop when their photo op went horribly wrong. Navy officials say the pilots had attempted to go into a routine "hover" but because of the altitude of Lake Tahoe and the weight of the aircraft, the chopper descended and partially submerged before both pilots increased power, pulled the choppers out of the water and averted a disaster. The helicopters are from North Island's Helicopter Maritime Strike 41 squadron. "An aviation mishap board has been convened," according to a North Island spokesman.
